Starting this type of business just might be the answer to the question of what type of part-time and potentially profitable business can I start? You can get started by leasing a suitable commercial location and carrying out the required renovations and leasehold improvements to turn the space into a small banquet room. The facility will require washrooms, a small well-equipped commercial kitchen that can be utilized by outside caterers, and fixtures such as tables and chairs. These types of small banquet facilities are perfect for corporate functions, social and family functions, weddings, awards ceremonies, stockholder meetings, and seminars. The goal is not to become an event planner or host of the banquet, but to supply a well-equipped and comfortable location for clients that wish to rent an event location. Basically, you rent clients the location and equipment they need to host their event. Market the banquet facility by establishing alliances with catering companies, event and wedding planners, corporations, social and business clubs, and local charity groups. Be sure to check with and conform to local building and health codes when establishing the business.
