A new foldable bicycle helmet can adjust to the user's head for a safer and more comfortable fit.
The helmet is made up of a group of rigid segments attached to adjustable straps, which allows the helmet to expand or contract in an accordion-like fashion. Once fitted to the user's head, it can be locked into place for a custom fit, and when compressed completely it will take up about 20 percent less space than a conventional helmet, which is handy for commuters and students with limited backpack space. The pattern of segments also allows for good air circulation while still meeting the safety certification.
