Old CD's can be put to a new use and turned into dumbbells, providing an incentive to workout while also reducing waste. The dumbbell kit will consist of a handle and two sets of dumbbell caps. The discs will slip onto a spool running through the center and attached to the handle, and the caps will close to keep them secure. Discs can be added up to a maximum weight of 5 pounds, including the 2.2 pound handle.

A new EEG smartphone app will let the user view a real time, 3D model of their brain wave activity directly on their phone. The idea is to create a pair of eyeglasses that can display the subtitles for a movie, which could make movie-going much easier for the hard of hearing. The glasses are supposed to project the words in a way that mimics the effect of them being projected onto the screen. This will help to reduce eye fatigue.
