One of my pet peeves in changing oil is that if you aren't careful, warm (if not hot) oil will run all over your hands. Further, almost always, I lose the bolt in the bottom of the oil bucket. Here's my idea. Cars come equipped with the oil pan bolt... the bolt is removed... BUT NOTHING COMES OUT YET! Why? Because there is another step. The oil changer then takes a wrench, after removing the bolt, and turns a nut (or for that matter, uses his hand to lift a lever, turn a knob,...

On long trips, my active son is strapped into a car seat for many long hours. He would LOVE to stand up, but, of course, that is dangerous when driving. That and other things have made me do some thinking about baby seats. I have three ideas... First, when my son goes to sleep, the seat tilts so little, that he must literally go to sleep sitting up. It would be nice if the seat could really adjust so that he could be in a more prone position. Second, to strap my son in, I must go...

I know I am not alone in my disgust for the bathrooms of many businesses. I have pulled into gas stations with new pumps, the latest architecture, and so forth, only to find the dirtiest, nastiest bathrooms. I think a national database detailing bathroom cleanliness of particular establishments, as well as the publishing of those results in newspapers, etc.... would lead to some changes. The database should include detailed locations so people can specifically avoid such places....

Ever been to a carwash where your car was washed, waxed, AND DRIED without a human hand touched the car. Same principle.... The walls (and if necessary, the ceiling) of the bathroom would be waterproof. There would be waterjets in the ceiling and the walls. At the push of a button, the water jets would wet the place down, then send out deodorizing and bacteria-fighting soap, then a rinse down that sent everything down the drains in the floor, then a blow-dry from ceiling fans, etc....
