Mirror Art business. Create cool works of art with mirror pieces that you can get for free. Business Overview Mirror art is simply small pieces of mirror in varying colors and shapes that have been assembled together to resemble a picture, landscape or even abstract design. In most cases a trip to your local glass shop will result in all the mirror you will need for this new venture, and usually at no cost. Why? Most glass shops dispose of mirror cutoff pieces that are too...

Was at a reading in an art gallery last night and while checking out their lighting set-up I had an idea for a way to do an art show. Hang the work like normal, but, instead of the normal lighting, the gallery should be as near to total dark as possible. When visitors arrive to view the work, they are given miner's helmets with forehead flashlights on them. I can picture the beams moving about the gallery, the pieces with more than one viewer lighting up with more light, the show's overall...

Recently i had the pleasure of hearing Christian Bök's amazing sound poetry. Speaking with Frank Davey and Christian at a recent conference at the Univeristy of Ottawa called "Re: reading the postmodern," i mused about the possibilities of taking sound poetry, having it recorded by speech recognition software and then having the result transcribed to be performed once again by the poet and done all over again. I refer readers to the interesting work of sound poets as featured on...

Last night I thought of a cool book form that would be perfect for a long manscript of poems that ranged from the very short to the very long (gee, think I'm reading a mansuscript like that right now?). The book would have a custom trim such that the cover and beginning pages were small, even tiny, and it would gradually flare out (a diagonal cut rather than a vertical cut) until reaching full-size. Side view of a normal book looks like this: |_| Side vie of this book would look like...

start a poem or story or doodle what have you and mail it to buddy a. buddy a will add a bit and pass it to buddy b and so on. could be just two people or more... a variation of this is to play the surrealist exquisite corpse game thru the mail...via postcards or letters. i love the idea of mail art.

I am in the process of moving back to England from Scotland, and have a yearning to hide an `art capsule` somewhere in the old house. A few examples of original art and writings buried under the floor or hidden in a wall space. Now, with hindsight, I wish I had done this everywhere I have ever lived. A secret trail for future arteologists.

Been looking recently for a site that does what I want to do and am finding a few things that are close, but none that are spot-on what I think would be ideal for both artists and the business built to serve them. The closest is ArtistShare.com, but they miss the mark on a couple of fronts. First, they're expensive. Second, their model doesn't incentive the artists to generate content for the site (what I mean is, the artist gets paid the same regardless of how much material they...

The bARTer system would allow artists to exchange their art for products or services offered by individuals or businesses who are willing to barter for their goods or services. The web has faciliated many barter sites, this one would model itself on those, but limit itself to those able to offer art and those willing to accept art as barter. Trade a painting for some plumbing work. Water plants for a week and be paid with a watercolor. You need a root canal... a dentist in your area needs...
