The idea is to create artificial red blood cells capable of transporting oxygen. The blood cells will be made using human stem cells. They will be natural and manufactured safely in large numbers. The artificial blood could eliminate the need to transport and store blood supplies, and could lower the chances of the transmission of blood borne diseases.

Doctor visits may soon get a bit less scary with a new needle-free injector able to deliver precise doses of medicine with different levels of force. The injector will use a Lorentz-force actuator to deliver a high-pressure jet of medicine through the skin without the need for a needle. The actuator will work through a powerful magnet surrounded by a coil of wire attached to a piston inside the drug ampoule. An applied current will interact with the magnetic field to push the...

Spring comes, the sun becomes brighter ... and many women face such a problem as pigmented spots and freckles. Doctors do not always advise to get rid of these harmless and sometimes even sweet spots. After all, freckles often do not spoil the face and not everyone should be upset. Those, who still do not want to put up with the freckles appearance, need to remember that GETTING RID OF FRECKLES IS MORE DIFFICULT THAN PREVENTING THEIR APPERANCE. Freckles are a common problem...

It's a well-known fact that snoring is dangerous to life. Moreover, it is a real disaster for family members to live with a person who snores. My struggle with snoring was to the death. At first I tried the following exercise: it is necessary to pronounce the letter "E" with an effort 30 times a day. I began to follow the instruction but then I either forgot about it for a few days or had a sore throat. Then my wife found a popular remedy for snoring: "Take a fresh cabbage leaf...

Heart rate monitor watches are widely used. My idea is to improve such watches so as they are able to monitor the heart rate as well as calculate calories burnt. They can also have the capability to scan products' bar codes and provide the information about how many calories were consumed versus how many calories were burnt. I think such watches could help people who intend to lose weight.

It seems to be a great idea to combine furniture with exercise equipment. For getting a quick workout while you're at home such Fitness Furniture makes the most sense, allowing you to have functional home fixtures that you can also use to work up a sweat. Three items come with the Fitness Furniture set - a multi-function closet, a table that can double as equipment for dips and an attractive mat for performing floor exercises. Most notable of the objects is the storage...

My idea is to design a self-balancing walking stick. Such a stick will address a seemingly innocuous problem that plagues many seniors: having to pick up their walking sticks. The whole purpose of a walking stick is to aid in walking and balance, so if it fails down picking it up can be equivalent to a dance with death. The stick will be designed to always stay upright.

The idea is to create a smart bandage able to change color based on temperature, allowing the state of the wound to be easily monitored. The bandage will be made of a derivative of cholesterol that changes color as it heats up, moving from red through green to blue. Changes in wound temperature will indicate infection, inflammation, or a reduction in blood supply to the tissue as well as other potentially dangerous problems. Enabling both doctors and patients to more easily...
