I think it's terrible to see a presidential debate where one candidate claims that the sky is green while the other says it is yellow, and then the interviewer nods solemly and moves on to the next question. This stuff is poison for any democracy - yet this strange type of political interview seems to be spreading like the plague! Let the viewers reach their own opinions? What a bunch of hogwash! The viewers (including myself) simply don't have the facts, they have jobs and a family...

Since 99% of the spam messages we receive nowadays come from other countries, there are no possiblities of suing or doing something to take the spammers to the law. Spam is now over the 60% of the email traffic in the world, it makes us waste HOURS of our lifes deleting stupid messages, and slows down the Internet speed worlwide. There should be an internantional organism, maybe United Nations dependant, where you could forward a spam message you receive and get involved legally...

I think that the government often spends tax money in their own interest. I have a plan called Destributable taxes which will let the tax payers at least controll how some of their money is spent. Under my idea, the government would get full controll of 3/4ths of your taxes. The government could spend it as they see fit. The last fourth, however, would be distributed to different areas of the government by you. Your tax forms would contain a special form where you could dictate what...

As the color of democracy in the US changes from red, white and blue to green, it might be time to tinker with the design a little bit. Instead of letting money, power, charisma, lineage, etc... effect the outcome, why not give everyone a chance to lead the country by voting for anonymous slates of ideas (solutions to problems put forth by those who want to run for office). A primary would be run to pick the top 4 or 5 sets and then a runoff would be held with the authors of those ideas...

I am very tired of the political system in the UK. We get sick of the Conservatives, so we vote for Labour. We get sick of Labour, so we get the er-um Conservatives again. And millions of people SCREAM silently into their cups of tea. Nothing ever changes. Especially not the parties, who reap the rewards for just sitting, whilst making (invariably) terribly lousy decisions that affect everybodies lives, often drastically. Isn't it time we had a fairer system? More parties to choose from,...

This idea is directed at the USA but might have application elsewhere. I am proposing an idea to our government to promote the creation of a nationwide, privately run, rail shipping system that could significantly affect the energy cost and number of interstate trucks. The idea is a cross between the Interstate highways and Federal Express. The infrastructure would be developed and paid for by both the federal and local governments just as the Highways were. Initially it would only...

After beating the snot out of each other one day, Stig and I discussed ways of bringing lasting peace to the world. Military deterrents? Forget it. Economic sanctions? Punchless. Public ridicule? Now you're talking... Simply add the following amendment to the UN charter: Should any nation declare war on any other nation, the declared upon nation has the right to officially rename the declaring nation; use of this new name shall be binding for all UN members. Would any nation...

Ok here's my idea. Whenever there is a war declared. The President/Prime Minister/Dictator/King/Whatever you have, has to go and fight in the front lines of the war. During this period of time the Vice President/Whatever will take over the duties of leader of the nation. I believe that this would force our authorities to give diplomacy much more of a chance instead of letting their military might do the talking.

In times where the US are trying to spread their home-made type of democracy all over the world, it's time to think about new forms of government. I'll call my invention "Automatocracy" - the idea is that elections should be abolished, instead the results should be created by a random generator. The most important achievement of democracy (as opposed to monarchy or dictatorship) is the regular rotation of government. Automatocracy would definitely have this advantage - plus a couple of...
