The idea is to develop a water reclamation system that will recycle bathroom sink water to use for flushing the toilet, which could save up to 6000 gallons of water each year. The system will consist of a box under the sink that can hold up to 5.5 gallons of used sink water and a pump which will transfer the grey water to the toilet's water supply. Such a system is supposed to save up to 65% of potable water per flush.

A new security system will take its cue from the way satellites process ground images, and will be able to scan and identify a fingerprint from almost 20 feet away. The scanner will use edge detection and image sharpening to increase the resolution of a distant fingerprint into an indefinable image. When coupled with additional security will measure such as facial recognition, the biometrics system could be strong enough to control access to a building or room. The use of...

I wish I had some device which would clean my pool without any assistance. Ideally, this device would float in the pool and filter the water collecting leaves, seeds and other garbage in itself. It would have photo cells to work from the sun energy; the energy would be also accumulated so as the cleaner could be used in the rain or at night. All I'd need to do would be to clean the devise of the collected garbage.

How about a lotion that blocks cold temperatures from hitting our skin? You rub on the lotion and it keeps you warm :). The lotion will be of great help for people living in very cold climates. One could take it while hiking in the mountains or swimming in cold water without a wet suit. It can be also useful in emergency situations like when the power goes out in the winter and you cannot heat your house.

The idea is to create a blue-tooth enabled speaker which will be water-resistant enough to use in the shower, and will stream from an Apple or Android device up to 200 feet away. The device will stream for up to 15 hours off three AA batteries and will include a 3-watt speaker. The detachable mount will be installed without tools, and will hold the speaker about half an inch off the wall to allow the sound to reverberate off the tile. Freestanding and hanging mounts will be...

1. Remember those "mood rings"? They interpreted your mood based on your temperature. I'd like to see a faucet that contains a simple system for relaying the temperature of the water to the user. The water nearest to the end of the faucet is all that matters here..I've noticed my son is in the habit of touching the stem of the faucet before washing his hands in order to tell the temperature of the water, and to avoid burning himself. How about a visual representation? 2. I'd like to see a...

My idea can be interesting for those who fail in household plants cultivation as they are constantly forgetting to water the plants, do not provide them with enough sun, etc. I suggest creating flowerpots which will warn the owners about such troubles. The pot will have light sensor from the outside and temperature and humidity sensors inside. If the amount of received light, water or temperature are beyond the limits the pot will start blinking red light warning the owner in such...

The idea is to create a spray-on antibacterial coating which will work even after several washings and will be applied to a variety of textiles as well as other materials. The polymer coating is supposed to be simple, inexpensive, and scalable. Able to kill a wide spectrum of bacteria, yeasts, and molds, it will be applied to both natural and synthetic materials, either during manufacturing or at home by the owner. The coating will be able to survive several hot water washings, and...

Reusable cleaning enzymes could lead to more effective cleaning tools, as well as less enzymes being released into the environment. By attaching the main enzymes that break down muds, proteins, starches, and oils to pieces of plastic (PVC), the cleaning power of the plastic will be enhanced. The enhanced PVC will clean the garment as well or better than enzyme-enhanced detergents, and the enzymes will remain active for over three months. Enzyme-enhanced plastics will lead to...
