My idea is to create lamps that will alter their lighting intensity to match the natural light cycles the day and night. The individual lamps will be set to follow the rhythms of either the sun or the moon. The Night Lamp will emit a gentle bluish light that will be synced to the lunar calendar, shining brightest during the full moon. The Day Lamp will gradually increase its light as it gets darker outside, and will lower its light as the sun shines more brightly. Both lamps...

The paper thin, mercury free OLED lights will be the most energy efficient kitchen lights. It is difficult to perfect white lights that are powerful enough to be suitable for kitchen use, but the OLED lights are supposed to be as bright as the typical compact fluorescent. They will also be incredibly thin and have a life span of more than 12,000 hours. The system efficiency of 71 lumens per watt will be greater than the standard requirement for undercabinet lighting, and the lights...

The idea is to create solar window shade that will harvest the sun during the day and use it to power its OLEDs at night. The shades will be made of a semi-translucent, flexible fabric that will allow the sunlight to gently seep in. The integrated solar cells will block the sun while harnessing its energy, which will power the leaf-shaped OLED's. A central cord will control the blind, allowing it to be opened, and the whole shade can be easily rolled up for storage.

The idea is to create a lighting system able to alter its lighting automatically based on the emotional flavor of the room. The lighting system will consist of some the world's most efficient and compact lights. The lights will be equipped with sensors to alter the lighting based on the number of people in the room. The sensors will also be able to read the emotional environment of the room, and adjust the lights to suit the mood.

The idea is to create a brew unit that will dispense three different liquids at one time, serving up a cup of coffee within 45 seconds of activation. The brewer tap will rise from the top of the aluminum brew unit, which will be enclosed within the brewer cabinet. The brew unit will be easily removed for cleaning, and will include dual grinders for fresh ground coffee. It will also be able to steam milk directly from the tap, automatically adding the milk when needed. The...

The idea is to create a new LED bulb able to be controlled by any Android device. It will set the precedent for a new generation of energy efficient home systems. The bulb will include a built in radio to interface with Google's open source wireless protocol. Besides the bulbs, the protocol will also be used to control thermostats and appliances, leading to a new type of self-adjusting systems.

The new light alarm clock will make getting out of bed just a little bit easier, gently increasing the light for a more natural alarm. The light is meant to simulate the natural sunrise, slowly increasing its glow over a period of 30 minutes, and can be programmed to include chirping birds or music. It will also dim slowly, easing the user into natural sleep.

New lamps will be powered by both solar and wind power, providing up to 12 hours of light when fully charged. The lamps will feature recyclable polypropylene shades that will catch the wind, rotating to create interesting lighting effects. The lamps will be available as either pendants or stakes, and can recharge in 9-12 hours on a sunny day or 24 hours in a 4 m/s wind. They will be both approved for use as outdoor lighting.

I want to create a device to prevent fires? It will be a small canister placed inside a wall and connected to an electrical outlet. This device will monitor the temperature of the outlet: in case it reaches 250 degrees (combustion occurs at 426 degrees), the canister will eject special foam that will cool the wires, displace oxygen and insulate the surrounding combustible materials. The foam spilt out of the outlet indicates that a fire has been prevented and that the outlet should...

Why not create a desktop generator that uses electricity to create hydrogen from water? This generator will be used for special cartridges charging. Each cartridge is supposed to contain 12 watt-hours of stored energy, the equivalent of ten AA batteries.
