It would be really great to have a tool to make retrieving submerged golf balls faster and easier. The device could be made of a series of mesh discs mounted on a carbon steel axle weighted at either end. It would be pulled with a rope across the bottoms of golf course water traps. As the discs turn, the balls would be trapped between them, to be plucked out at the end of each traverse.

I would like to have a new bike lock system which will be strong, sleek, and long enough to pass through both wheels and secure the bike to a stationary object. The system will consist of a steel, pick resistant lock and a flexible titanium bow that will be able withstand a saw and a 48-inch bolt cutter. The largest size will weigh less than 5oz, which will be one third the weight of a conventional U-lock. The flexible bow will be large enough to wrap around objects as large as 5.5...

A new form of biodegradable golf balls made from lobster shells will make use of the bio-waste that is ordinarily sent to a landfill. The balls will be made of crushed lobster shells mixed with a biodegradable binder and coating.

Why not create a simple one minute test to determine quickly whether or not an athlete has suffered a concussion? The test will evaluate the athlete's ability to read numbers which are displayed on a series of flashcards. The time it will take for the athlete to respond will be compared to a baseline test. Any coach or doctor will be able to diagnose a concussion confidently if the athlete's response is more than 5 seconds slower. The test will also check for eye movement,...

I want to have an eco-friendly hybrid bicycle that can be converted into a scooter, thanks to its built-in electric motor and on-board lithium-ion battery. When pedaling such a bike, users will charge the battery. The bike will have a semi-automatic 8-speed transmission, which should help when trying to ride up steep slopes. Maybe all bicycles in the future will be hybrid vehicles like this.

I'm really fond of the idea of creating a device that helps strengthen the connection between a swimmer's arms and legs, effectively making both of them more powerful. Worn in front of the body, it can be used to generate resistance so the wearer uses more muscle power with each stroke. Worn running down the spine, it helps maintain correct posture.

Skiing and snowboarding are sports that I am fond of. Why not have googles that give you all kinds of statistics while you slide down the mountain? They will come with GPS and have a screen in the glasses. The display will tell you things like your contact information, external conditions, speed, altitude, distance, temperature and number of runs. You can even use them as a stopwatch and a clock to keep your progress.

Why not provide football helmets with impact sensing accelerometers? This will help to analyze how blows to the head relate to brain injuries. Three types of accelerometers will be placed in the mouthpieces, earpieces, and helmets to see if real time neuroanalysis can occur during the games, allowing for the isolation and diagnosis of the concussions within minutes. By the way, long-term data could provide information on how players become injured and help engineers design a...

Sports Memorabilia business. With the popularity of eBay, buying sports memorabilia is a venture that's sure to pay off. Business Overview Buying sports memorabilia, such as team jerseys, autographed sports celebrity photos, and sports equipment at discounted or bargain prices and then reselling the same memorabilia to collectors and hardcore sports fans at a profit is a terrific little part-time homebased business venture to set in motion. Initiating this business will require...

My idea is to create sportswear with built in flexible electronics to monitor an athlete's biological indicators, like pH levels in sweat, heart rate, or blood pressure, generating data on metabolism or other factors and beaming it wirelessly to a trainer's laptop. The electronics could also simply count the steps to measure the distance traveled or the number of reps completed. Having such a sportswear will remove the need for some clunky external device to record or transmit...
