Soft tissue sculpting

    A new injectable biomaterial can be molded by light, which could allow doctors rebuild the soft structures of the face and help people who have been disfigured by disease or injury.
    The half synthetic and half biological material can be injected as a liquid, formed into shape, and then locked into shape by exposure to light. Injecting the material will eliminate the need for surgery, which will lower costs and patient discomfort. When the material is exposed to specific wavelengths of light, the polymer chains will arrange into a stable form that stiffens the implant.
