Stem cell bandage
/Health

A newly developed stem cell seeded bandage could improve the healing of meniscus tears and significantly reduce the need for surgery.
The procedure consists of growing stem cells from the marrow of the patient's hip and seeding them onto a membrane, which is then sewn into the tear. Hopes are that the stem cells will grow to become cartilage cells, encouraging the regrowth of the meniscus.
