Wine bottles made from a paper based glass will cost less to produce than conventional glass and will have only 10 percent the carbon footprint.
The paper wine bottles will weigh only 50 grams, instead of the 500 grams of a standard wine bottle. Its shape and dimensions will be the same, however, so it can be easily integrated into existing displays. The wine itself will be contained within a foil bladder similar to a wine box.
The paper wine bottles could be useful for causal wines and picnickers, and have the advantage of cooling more quickly in the fridge.
