The best defense against common communicable diseases is prevention. Door knobs and handles are covered with a huge amount of microbes so why not create self-steralizaing door handles? I suggest creating a door handle that continuously sterilizes itself with a UV light, only taking a break when you actually use it. There will be some kind of switch in the handle's frame to toggle the sanitizing illumination on and off.

Reading is becoming completely hand-free with the OLED data glasses, which display digital documents on the lenses. The lenses of the glasses consist of OLED pixels and photodiodes. The OLED pixels form a digital document that seems to be about 3.3 feet in front of the wearer, while document-controlling eye movements are interpreted by the photodiodes. The user can switch their focus from the task at hand to the document by looking toward the horizon, and can turn the document's...

Are you a kind of person who just can't stop tapping your fingers on the furniture trying to reproduce a favorite melody? This seems to be annoying... Why not create electronic gloves which will create the music while you are tapping on the dining table for example? Each finger on the glove will be mapped to a different note with different musical instrument tones for you to choose from. There could be also a couple of distinct background rhythms and pre-recorded songs.

My idea is to have bikes with built in solar powered LED lights. Besides using solar, the lights of the bike could also be charged through a cell phone's micro USB. The bike's frame will be made of super light rust free aluminum, and will include an ABUS X-plus cylinder chain lock integrated into the frame, deterring envious thieves.

The idea is to develop special wristbands to help the users keep track of their lifestyle patterns and develop more healthy habits. The wristband monitor will work with a smartphone application and an open platform that will advise the user on physical activity, nutrition, or sleep patterns. The open platform will allow the app to be fine tuned to individual goals, and the social network link will solicit encouragement from family and friends.

The idea is to develop a method of removing all amounts of heavy metal from water. The method will work increasing the heavy metal concentration in water to make it high enough to be removed. The technique will combine two current processes. The first process will cause the heavy metals to form a toxic sludge at the bottom of the tank while the second process, known as electrowinning, will send an electrical current through the sludge to transform the metal ions into a stable...

The new device will be able to determine the amount of vegetables in a person's diet in about a minute, simply by shining a laser on the person's hand. The veggie-monitor will use Raman spectroscopy (RRS) to measure the increased level of carotenoids in the skin. Carontenoids, which are the biomakers for fruit and vegetable intake, tend to cause a slight yellow skin discoloration that is particularly noticeable in the palms. A blue argon laser tuned to interact with the carotenoids...

The application will use algorithms and image based pattern recognition technology to make early melanoma detection instantly available to anyone with an iPhone. The app will be linked to a database licensed from some medical center. The concerned user will simply take a photo of the suspicious mole with the iPhone camera, then upload it to the database where it will be evaluated based on risk. If the mole or freckle seems to present a significant risk the application will recommend...

The self-sanitizing keyboard will use ultraviolet light to kill harmful micro-organisms in seconds. The keyboard will look and feel the same as a standard computer keyboard. To engage the cleaning cycle, the keyboard will protract into a light-tight enclosure which will bath it in the UV light. It can be retracted for use by the wave of hand over the motion sensor.
