The idea is to create more realistic prosthetics by using fiber optics to connect nerves to the artificial limbs. Fiber optics will be used to send data to the brain. They are proved to be more efficient than contemporary electrodes: 1. Glass or polymer fiber optics are more flexible than the electrical designs in use now; 2. They are able to transmit more signals at once.

The idea is to develop a new technology that will allow cars to harness their waste heat for better fuel efficiency. It is necessary to create new thermoelectric generators, which will consist of semiconductor materials treated with hafnium and zirconium. The generators will be less expensive than conventional devices as well as 40 percent more efficient.

Drinkable mouth wash seems to be more effective as it will freshen up not only your mouth but also your throat and esophagus/stomach which are the origins of the bad breath. You will be able to drink it anywhere, just like any soft drink.

New snowshoes will be designed for both walking and sliding, able to switch from snow gripping to snow skies to glide a gentle hill. The snowshoes will consist of a sliding binding with a toe crampon and hinged spike plate. While climbing, the crampon and spikes will provide grip as the binding pivots to provide a natural step. To descend short hills, the binding can be locked into place to deliver stability for turns and the spikes will swing upward to allow for sliding on snow.

A lot of times, we are stuck out in public without our phone chargers handy. This leaves us vulnerable especially when we need to make an important call. This idea about a twirling battery is really cool. The concept is to simply twirl the cell phone battery around a finger a few times for a quick bit of juice to send a text or make a call. 130 twirls will give you approximately two minutes of talking time. The same idea could also be applied to batteries for other devices.

My idea is to use the same clay ingredient as in bricks to create a packaging that can help foods stay fresh longer. The new film will be made up of 70% montmorillonite clay, with a structure similar to conventional bricks and mortar. Conventional packaging could be sprayed with or dipped in the film, creating a layer less than 100 nanometers thick. This extremely fine layer will be 100 times more resistant to penetration by oxygen than the current silicon oxide films.

The newly improved radiator booster will increase the efficiency of wall mounted radiators, directing the heat back out into the room. The booster will be designed to turn on when the radiator reaches a temperature over 86F, and it will cost under a dollar a year to run. Since it will distribute the heat out into the room, the radiator booster should help to encourage lower thermostat settings.

A method of gathering crowd density data using already installed cameras could lead to a new way of monitoring people's shopping habits. The software method uses installed surveillance cameras to monitor the number and flow of people throughout the day. Each person appears as a colored disc, making it easy to determine how people move through the area and where they choose to linger. It is designed to keep each person unidentifiable, and cannot track individuals. The...

The idea is to develop a cloth that can block toxic fumes by trapping the molecules inside the fibers of the material. The cloth will consist of cellulose fibers and metal-organic framework molecules, which will form pores able to trap and contain molecules of gas. The fabrics could be tailored to trap different sizes of molecules, blocking different types of gasses.
