The sound of running water can be soothing, but the gurgle of water rushing thru the downpipes at night can be annoying and keep you awake. Thus...The Silent Downpipe! I envisage something that could be retro-fitted to existing pipes, but there would need to be versions for round and rectangular pipes. Or a totally new downpipe that can fit to new houses. Some understanding of the rotational direction of the water would be required. Anticlockwise in the southern hemisphere and reverse...

People who stay in apartments/houses/anywhere with boring, depressing or even ugly views through their windows, will benefit from this. A tranquill forest scene or a sandy beach with the usual scenery, there are millions of suitable pictures. Place these pics: Size to extend past window's edges, in an advertising sign board type of frame. Attach this to the wall outside the window, so that the view from inside is now the picture you chose. What if you get bored with that picture? Well...

We could use adding more uniqueness and character to our homes and add that to our address. We could set up a real National Paid Directory of house addresses and there names with each name different from any other. We now name stars and boats so, why not our homes?! We could get really creative and it could reflect our families personalities or the house or anything you can imagine from any real or made up word or short sentence ever spoken from time immortal in any language you choose. It...

Having read about deaths occurring due to people extending ladders past the safe extension point I felt there had to be an answer. My idea is that the last rungs of the ladder have an extra extrusion on the back of the rung thus stopping the extended front part of the ladder from being located on the last rungs. This would stop people from overstretching the ladder thus avoiding a collapse due to undue stresses. An after market kit could also be sold as it would be quite a simple...

Being a teacher, I find that my classroom is too crowded with lab tables to maneuver (16 lab tables for 32 students). I think I should be able to make use of the vertical room space with bunk desks. We could seat belt the students in up top.

I figure since there are pop-up sprinklers for outside, why can't there be pop-up vacuumes for inside? I know it would be hard to cover up the holes in the carpet where they pop up, but it would save a lot of vacuuming hassle. Imagine what you could do with the push of a button...

Just like storm windows, a double pipe can keep the weather out, but PVC and steel pipes break in the winter even when they are insulated if they are single pipes. I have seen that pipes of any kind (plastic, steel, copper, etc.) used in any application come in any size you want them in. If you have a one inch pipe then you place the hardly useable insulation over it tightly, then you place a slightly larger pipe over it which provides a pocket of air around the inner pipe which will never...

Imagine shingling your house in one half hour, rather than back breaking labor for days. If you were to place hundreds of shingles on one large sticky roll and have it crane lifted to the top of the house and simply stick the shingle sheets covering the entire roof, then you would have a very fast and efficient way to shingle a house. It would also not leak, because it couldn't be lifted by the air or any outside conditions of weather. It would also have no break in between shingles, and...
