I have an idea about pollution that may really stop industries and the gov't from dumping trash in our backyards! There are countless examples of companies dumping their trash, usually on the poor side of town. I think that all companies and individuals should be ranked by how much trash/waste they produce. A nanofiber based absorbent will be able to remove the radioactive materials from contaminated water, rendering the waste to a more concentrated, easily stored form. The absorbent will be made of titnate nanofiber and will be based on nanotube technology. The material will be able to absorb and retain radioactive material in water, containing the waste safely even when wet. Once absorption is complete, the material will be disposed of without fear of leakage into the soil.

The idea is to develop a soluble capsule capable of removing radioactive substances from liquid, rendering it safe to drink. The capsule will be created using metal oxide nanoparticles, which will react with radioactive substances. This will turn the capsule into a kind of "reverse tea bag", drawing the heavy metals out of the solution.
