I'd like to see legislation to require all new home/apartment/townhouse/commercial developments to have a certain percentage of south facing wall or roof area. It's for solar developement but the solar equipment is not required. The market place will one day soon demand that that area be used to collect energy and people will respond.

Just back from a conference where I saw a demonstration of a software simulator used in a negotiation among the institutional leaders of a city, a group of farmers and companies delivering water to the city. The negociation was about water beeing polluted by pesticides used by the farmers. I found the software very useful to elaborate scenarios consequent to the behavior of the different parties and to get the consensous of the parties on a certain scenario. Such a software could be...

We all know that if the amount of trash on planet earth keeps increasing at the current rate, we won't have any place for it! And there is that useless moon floating around earth way up there in space. So why not send our trash up there to be buried on the moon? A little strange I know, but it could be a possibility. And I'm not sure exactly how all this would happen, like if the garbage would stay underground or not. But it has potential, don't you think?? Please take the time to reply to...

A new CO2 scrubbing filter inspired by bird lungs could be applied to both power plants and automobiles. The scrubber will be based on the tiny tubes inside the lungs of birds, called parabronchii. The tubes, with their large surface area, are very efficient at filtering oxygen from the air--a necessary adaptation since birds fly often fly at altitudes where there is very little oxygen. Using the lungs as a model, it will be possible to design filters made of different-sized...

Many Europen nations have a surplus of electricity generating capacity. A cable laid across the Straits of Gibralter would enable electricity to be transmitted & sold to African nations which were connected up to a common electricity grid. The funding for such a cable (and the transmission grid) could come from a European sponsored 'Marshall Aid' type plan for Africa. This would further economic development in Africa and ease immigration pressures on Europe simultaneously. A classic...

We are worried about soil erosion filling our water dams with soil, leaving us with no more water in them and loss of rich soil from higher areas. So what if it is possible to build a dam or small dams near the place where soil erosion is taking place? It may stop the soil where it belongs and not fill our water dams. PS. If u happen to know any Dam Builders please inform them about this idea on this website.

A reusable container to use at restaurants to take leftovers from the restaurant home in. The restaurants could charge a one-time deposit fee for the container that the customer could use each time they visit the participating restaurant(s). This would be an alternative to styrofoam carryout containers, which would reduce the amount of styrofoam carryout containers in landfills. Restaurants could reduce their overhead by not using styrofoam carryout containers, save money and increase...

If we can create huge wind turbines that capture the winds energy for the population then why can we not create a smaller version to attach to our homes? I would rather have a small turbine on my home that would capture and store energy produced by wind than pay an electric company for power. Its cleaner, less expensive, and better for everyone. I think we should spend as much time as it takes to come up with energy saving ideas that depend solely on using our renewable resources such as...

Develop a home recycler which will take all of your recyclable material and crush, grind, reduce, compact and store the material until you are ready to dispose of. I suggest the following criteria: - Items to dispose of - wood, plastic, glass, metals - Must be a system inexpensive enough for the average home - Must be easy to operate and by one person - End product must be ready to dispose of, preferably able to sell the product to local recycling establishment.
