What happens to the millions of little hotel soaps that are only used once or twice? They are thrown away. Why isn't there a central collection agency that gathers all of the soaps, recycles them into new soaps or distributes them to people in need? The hotels could donate the soaps to the agency, and therefore get a charitable tax break. If the hotel wanted to buy back new (recycled) soaps imprinted with a logo or something fancy, they could pay extra (also to charity).

Although I'm a true fan of recycling, I hate glass containers. There's one in my back yard, and every time someone throws in a bottle, I can hear it in my entire flat. Even worse, there's a bar on the same block where I live, and every morning they dump last night's bottles into the container, I simply fall out of bed. I've spoken to the local trash authorities about this problem, but they say they have experimented with silent glass containers in the past, and that it can't be done. I...

Create a huge cone shaped Helium balloon with a big funnel like opening in the center. Now place a wind turbine in its center to generate electricity, tie this structure to ground and release it up at a very high altitude to get high-speed winds. Ropes should be tied in such a way that the concave side of the balloon faces the direction of coming wind. The Concave shape will trap more wind and will result in greater efficiency of turbine. At high altitude there is more wind (look at...

The SolarTech is a solar satellite aimed at the sun 24/7 much like a tv or radio satellite. It works by sending radio signals to a receiver. It picks up the signal and makes the (car, house, computer, ANYTHING WITH THE RECIEVER WORK). And could take over gas, electric, nuclear, batteries, etc. And nobody would ever need those things again

Since lightnings create a lot of energy, can't that energy somehow be caught and stored for use?

Wind turbines are being used to generate electricity in several countries (Denmark for example). Why don't they have turbines that exist to remove polluting particles from the air and perhaps transfer them to the base of the station. If some of the emissions of automobiles could be captured by a "windmill" then instead of using the power to generate electricity it could be used to gather the particles and concentrate them into something that is no longer floating in the air, but contained...

This would be a good project for an Environmental Science/ Education Student. The physical object is quite simple, but the institution of the system would require much research and involvement. The actuall object: A backpack that holds a 32oz thermal mug, a set of flatware, and a lenin napkin. The hard part: One would need to do a cost analysis comparison between cost of waste removal and landfill use to the cost of distributing such a kit to all citizens of any given urban area....

Over the number of years that I have lived, I have realized that, most of the time we loose filament of electric bulbs is while switching the bulb on. That must be because of sudden heating of cold filament to an instant brightness. So if we create a second electric bulb holder that fits on any existing bulb holder such that it doesn't instantly ignite the bulb to full brightness but rather smoothly increases the electric current to the fullest, then we would save a lot of money and...

I have an idea about pollution that may really stop industries and the gov't from dumping trash in our backyards! There are countless examples of companies dumping their trash, usually on the poor side of town. I think that all companies and individuals should be ranked by how much trash/waste they produce. This could be done by producing trash cans & dumpsters with sensors that count the amount of mass in the container per week. For liquid waste (which many companies dump liberally...

One major component of air pollution is ozone. A major problem with our atmosphere is the existence of several "holes" in the Ozone Layer. My idea is based on the fact that a toroid, or doughnut-shaped fluid mass is self-sustaining. A good example of this is a smoke ring. Someone puffs smoke through their "Oh" -shaped lips and the ring (toroid) moves through the air without losing its shape or contents. On a larger scale, years ago, cigarettes were advertised from outdoor signs by...
