The current practice of guarding against flooding into buildings is to fill and stack sandbags. This is labor intensive and presents the problem of disposing of the fill sand/dirt. The suggested invention is an inflatable hose-like vinyl/plastic/rubber material that could be uncoiled around the structure and filled with water to act as a barrier. Inasmuch as the hose is filled with water, it could float away when surrounded by water. Therefore, the hose is actually triangular shaped with...

When you buy a gun at a gun shop you need to fire a few rounds to get used to it. After a few rounds or more the inside of the muzzle has permanent grooves that match both the gun and the bullets coming out of the gun for years if not forever with very little change over time. If we photograph both the bullets and the matching inside grooves of the registered gun, we could then build a data base for all guns sold and like finger prints this will help find anyone involved in misuse of said...

Introduce a system of 'survival' tokens in varying denominations which the public can purchase from high street stores, then give instead of cash to the homeless. The tokens would be exchangable for food, clothing and non-alcoholic drinks.

Let's say there is a device that identifies certain frequencies and their origin. Put one of them in the top of each light post (or at least one in three) and a camera. Then adjust this device to detect the noise of a gun shot. It will activate the camera aiming towards the noise source. It could help to identify criminal situations and will stop crime somehow, since they will know that can be viewed.

Police are often called to settle domestic quarrels, and frequently the police end up injuring, and sometimes even killing someone. I suggest that a better way to handle a highly charged domestic quarrel, would be for the police to have a special unit dressed in Kevlar clown outfits, charge in, accompanied by the loud playing of music and laughter, shooting seltzer water at the arguing persons, and clubbing them with soft rubber hammers.

I would like to invent a toothpaste that is flavorable yet cleans your teeth. The deal is this toothpaste will turn a kids teeth brown if he/she smokes a cigarrette, turns green if he/she smokes marajuana, and turns bright yellow if he/she drinks. This would embarrass a teen so much that he/she would not think about doing any of those mentioned above again. The teen wouldn't know what made his/her teeth turn the colors and the only way to get the original color back was to brush his/her...

I am hoping for someone to create a "jelly mould" concept type of home to solve the problem of homelessness in the world - surely a mould could be made and then injected with material which would harden and then allow cutouts to be made for doors, windows.....etc.... It would be basic, but a whole new world for those without.

If we can design rides and themes of the eras that once were but are now forgotten (20's, 30's, etc.) then we could entertain those who (how ever rude this may sound) live in their past like most everybody else of all ages, then we could have entertainment billed for a large audience not seen using modern technology to enhance the past. An audience of millions not taylored to yet making this a very lucrative business opportunity. The two don't often go together, but "Gone With The Wind" on...

Introduce bench meters to public parks. These secure coin operated devices would work like parking meters. The new income stream generated would pay for the maintenance and cleaning of existing benches and the purchase of additional benches. Off-peak times (i.e. dusk to dawn) would ensure that homeless individuals electing to sleep on these benches at night could do so without the risk of incurring a financial penalty.

Virtually all of the discussions on how to reduce gas consumption and traffic congestion involves increasing the supply: Pump more oil, refine more gasoline, build more roads, more busses, new transit systems. Yes, we need to do those things and more; but, we can make faster, highly effective gains with very little cost through a relatively painless adjustment in our livestyles. Let's institutionalize the 4-day work week. Here's what it can do: *Reduce commuting traffic by as...
