Tornado can often strike at night when people are asleep and not tuned into the weather channel. As a result many of them are injured or killed. My solution is to create software that the National Weather Service can use to inform people about the tornado (in a single second). It will send text messages to all cell phones/landlines to people in areas most likely to be hit. This will be definitely a great warning system for those who are not tuned into TV, but are carrying phones.

My idea is to create a mobile application integrated with a database of public lavatories within a city/country/state/etc. After you define your location the application will return the list of the nearest lavatories. It seems to be very convenient. By the way, the database should be updated on a daily basis.

Why not create software to scan videos of crime scenes and identify frequently reoccurring faces? This will help with the identification of individuals who may know something about the crime. The software will work from any video stream, including cell phone video. It could also be used to count the number of times an individual shows in a particular location, and mark that person as a possible person of interest if they appear more than a certain number of times.

There have been a lot of discussions in the last couple of years about "ego shooters" and their bad influence on kids, especially in the context of real-life shootings in various schools. Why not develop a similar line of games that is just as exciting but less violent? For example, when we were kids we used to try to get into various pop concerts for free - it was very exciting and involved skills like swimming, hiding, jumping, runnig... and of course the ability to analyse a certain...

Don't worry - not what the title may suggest. I propose a site from which members could share abilities. For example: I am in a band. We have made a record, but we need some album art. So in return, we search for an artist to some album art. The artist could be given our music free. Alternatively, a proprietary currency could be used which could be exchanged according to the difficulty/length of the task. This money could be exchanged for real money, allowing people to make money with the...

Basically, it's software that will find a specified game folder, locate all the audio/video/and image files and shrink them. By shrink, I do not mean zip. The software would take say a jpg and extract some of the pixels, thus shrinking the file. Take away some noise in an mp3/wav file, and it also shrinks. I have been doing this very tedious task manually for some time now in order to make graphically intensive games run faster. It DOES work.

Domains names can be registered for varying periods of time - 1 year, 2 years or 10 years. When the registration period expires, the original owner can re-register it or failing that it enters the public domain where it is then sold on a first come, first served basis. Many sites cater for this expired domain market, which indicates that there is a huge demand for them. For somebody whose name was about to expire and who had been unable to sell it on some form of return, however small...

A website where medical researchers, practitioners (aka doctors) and the public share news and insights on latest happenings on the world of medicine. Researchers and doctors share their research findings and add information on diseases and treatment options. The content would be reviewed and updated, similar to the wikipedia-style, by fellow researchers and doctors who would gain by publicizing their work and speciality. The public can get the latest research findings in simple,...

My idea is for a dating site where people could play matchmaker. It would basically be a typical dating site with profiles and searching. The major difference would be that people could take two profles from corresponding categories (ie. Men seeking Women and Women seeking Men) and match them up. If the people being matched liked the match they could give the matchmaker a score based on the match. The later matches would be weighted on the score of the matcher. You could also have an...

There should be some software that allows users to act together in a church virtually. There could be a graphical environment of the church and members could get together to listen to a sermon, either chatted or spoken. Each member could have a little avatar within the church. It would be a good way for people to interact religiously despite isolation.
