How about an internet site where people could submit an electronic photo of themselves. (Perhaps two photos; one frontal facial, and one side facial.) A computer would then analyze the photos and create groups of photos in which the members of the group look very much alike. You could then log into the site and find someone who looks just like you. Who knows? You might discover that you are a twin and have never been told! Then once a year, a look-alike get-together would be...

How about setting up a website where authors that normally would never be published could publish excerpts of their work? Then, if people like it, they may pay for a downloadable version of the whole thing. Authors could set the price per copy as whatever they feel their work is worth - maybe there could be some sort of bidding system? The site could take a small percentage of sales. And on the same site, perhaps if some agents or publishers would periodically list their submission...

When I write my email, I'm sometimes REALLY absent-minded. One of the worst mistakes I sometimes make is sending mails to the wrong people. This problem could be solved by an intelligent email client that does some basic checking and then outputs an appropriate error message (e.g. "Are you sure you want to be so rude to your GRANDMOTHER?" - "Do you really want to send this business letter to yourself?" etc. etc.) With 20-30% of the internet population ignoring unpleasant emails, I...

A computer program that tests peoples eyes to find their eyeglass prescription. It could duplicate the effects of the machine with the lenses that the optometrist makes you look through. The person would look at the computer screen without any glasses on and select which of two images looks clearer repeatedly, just like at the optometrist. The computer program would emulate the effect of an eyeglass lens. The image would look like what a person with perfect vision would see if he put on...

I am thinking of starting an online social networking/workplace where people hire and work with professionals or individual service providers to get work done. Whether you are looking for professional contractors to fix your bathroom or college students to do your house work or that Mexican immigrant to build your drive way. You could advertise on the site at no charge. All the site will do is to link these two parties together and they decide where to meet up what rate they will pay...

We have on-line shopping sites where you can see the products and place an order. When buying clothes we always spend sometime checking the fitting and matching the colours of tops with bottoms etc.. With that foreword I want to present my idea: My idea is to take a full-size image of a person and have software convert it into a reasonable 3D image (we can ask the user for some other parameters such as height, waist and other bio-stats). Once this is done, as part of the one-time...

First of all, I have to say, that my English is not the best, so please don´t blame me. I thought, if it wouldn´t be great to have a software, that could draw a place or Street in 3D, where I could walk virtual through. Bingo, this is Google Earth in the 3D modus, for example in New York. The second part of my idea was, that it would be great to walk for example through the 5th avenue in New York and when you look around in your 3D enviroment, you don´t see just grey block, which are...

The creation of a large site containing past cases and official log in for police detectives who want to solve crimes. International setup: A library of information regarding deductive and inductive methods for solving crimes and an experts forum and email system that helps detectives find the right answers from more educated and/or more experienced and/or prooven record (famous - well known - respected) detectives. When Stig was on vacation up in Iceland recently, we used a chat program to keep in touch. Unfortunately, we wound up having a huge argument when I said soemthing sarcastic that Stig thought was meant literally, and we didn't speak with one another for a week afterwards. Couldn't this type of misunderstanding be avoided if there were an easily recognizable typeface for sarcasm? Every word processing programm has dozens and dozens of typefaces nobody ever uses - this would be one that...

Simple, painless: Pay, and download. A supersite covering virtually every Make and Model, with a complete automotive repair E-book detailing the car as a rebuild... Much like the books you buy at the auto parts store. With books costing around 15-20 bux, one could easily charge $10 for E-books. There is nothing like this on the Internet today, even Chilton's Online only has these stupid interactive CD's you can order... Who cares, who wants to wait 2-4 weeks when the car is sitting in the...
