Maybe one of the movie companies like Blockbuster Video or Hollywood Video could team up with a cable provider to offer movies on demand. Much like pay per view you could order movies from it. But instead of watching whatever was coming on that channel and at the time that they are playing it, you could type in the name of the movie you wanted to watch, pay for it, and have it delivered to your TV. This isn't that far fetched as they already have digital cable and TIVO. They would just...

Ever heard a piece of music you really like during a TV programme, film or commercial, but not known what it is? With TV broadcasting, other data is also broadcast with the pictures (eg subtitles). So why not broadcast the info around current music being played during a programme? By clicking on a button you could get the name of the song. This would mean when you hear something you like you can instantly find out what it is, and who it is by. Take this a step further and, using a...

Have you ever laid in bed or on the couch and read a book? Im sure most of us have. Well, sometimes it's hard to get comfortable holding the book. Paperbacks keep wanting to close, and big books make your arms tired, etc. How about books on DVD. Pop it into the DVD player, and there it is. The written word on the T.V. sceen. All you have to do is lay back and read. You dont even need the lights on. It would have a page turning button on the remote (channel up/down), and also the page could...

On the Discovery TV channel it was explained that our dog/cat pets can only see garbage on our TV screens because their eye response is much too fast for the frame rate (pictures per second) that was designed for humans. This was their explanation of why dogs won't even notice "Lassie" on TV. We know that if we changed the frame rate to something else, humans would see various degrees of a flickering picture (like old silent films) and in some cases it would be so bad as to look like...

This may sound nuts. But i have an idea for an invention for parties. Not that we dance or anything at the parties I go to, but what if videos or DVD's were sold of music videos. While they are playing, bright lights flash. Strobes, colors, anything. Kinda a rave thing. But I figure why rent lights or have to make mix CD's most TV's have good sound or a surround sound system. I'm not saying this is going to be popular for epileptics, but everyone else should survive. Just a thought. If you...

Here's one: in exchange for a small extra fee paid to your cable provider, they would notify you whenever a sports event is close and worth watching. For example, nobody ever watches tennis, but wouldn't it be nice to receive a message saying "Turn on channel 17 - there's a 14-14 tie in the final set..." so you could see the epic games without wasting time on the dull ones?

Are you annoyed by commercials that have a higher level of volume than your favorite TV program? This device could be used in conjunction with ANY modern Television. It would work similar to the volume control on the television's remote control, however with an additional twist. The device would contain a sound or volume level sensor which would then automatically adjust the sound to the viewer's desired level and keep it there. >>>[volume sensor]>>>[volume adjust]

This device should be like that in some models of cordless phones: you press a button on the base( the fixed part of the phone) and the mobile part of the phone make a sound, a beep. By analogy you press a button on the TV, and the remote control (a device that I usually forget where it is in the room ) makes a beep...

Have you ever watched a politician or other public figure on tv, and wonder how that person looks to people in other countries? Does that cool football coach look silly to people in other cultures? Likeable? Grouchy? Right now, there's no way to tell. But if people watching in other countries could submit feedback online, we could tell what they're thinking. It would be fun, and might even avert a few international misunderstandings.

Develop technology, intrinisic in the home phone, that before the phone even rings once, answers; "If this a telemarket, donation request, political call, or if your number has caller ID block, please hang up and do not try again, otherwise stay on the line and your call proceed as normal." The technology to create such a phone would have to be created.
