A simple, small air bag that is placed inside your headrest and activates when you are rear ended. Today's headrests and the headrests in the past have never prevented whiplash which is the most common problem in an accident and has the most lawsuits due to it. Your head is pushed forward by the rear-ending of another car or rear end collision then the air bag pads your head safely back against the head rest as your head comes back towards the seat at great force. It would be more...

If you can keep the pets on a short leash or lock down the stretch kind then you can buckle your pet's leash right to the seat buckle that you would use and you could safely drive without a chance that the pet would obstruct your driving or jump out an open window. Just have one end on the animal's collar and have a standard car seat buckle attachment on the other end. With the buckle possibly detachable to return the leash to a standard leash again.

Whenever you are driving down the highway in cruise mode, it would be nice to have some kind of "cruise indicator" to advise other drivers of your reason for not passing faster or why you are going at such a non speeding pace. Let them know to pass if they want, but that you are in "cruise control". Maybe a light near the tail lights.

I think it would be cool to have clear plastic windows in the floors of cars so that the passengers could see the road whizzing along underneath them as they are driving along.

When you're travelling by plane, there's often something spectacular going on outside (and I'm not talking about burning engines - rather something like sunsets, cloud patterns or fantastic sights on the ground). Unfortunately, you can rarely see these things, as you're usually sitting on the wrong side of the plane. So why don't they use a mini camera to broadcast those events to the main screen so everyone can see? It would definitely be a great service appreciated by most passengers.

Prof. Victor Papanek talked in his book 'Design for the Real World', about how more than a ton of metal is used to move a 150 pound human from place to place. Many of the National Labs in USA are working on developing self-contained suits for use by the National Security people for use in all kinds of emergencies. Most of a car is designed to provide a micro-environment to the occupant. The idea proposed is: Can a simplified version of the special protection suit be used...

For areas in the world that suffer from frozen and icy roads. Tyres for cars are consumables, they wear out, and the rubber "dust" gets inbedded in and on the road. My idea is to make the rubber act as a de-icer for the roads. A chemical of some type would need to be added to the rubber to make the freezing temp of the water on the road increase. It would be constantly applied to the road through the wearing down of tyres.

Like a catalytic converter, a chemical solvent or absorbant (of course, capable of absorbing all the bad gases) could be designed and attached to the exhaust system of any automobile. This also can have an air quality meter so that the exhaust's pollution level can be measured and controled. This would make the air we breath cleaner and safer.

This invention will solve a problem we have had for a long time. Often in our life we have noticed that it has been a problem for many people to walk on the side walk after snow, because the snow covers everything making it almost impossible to walk safely. It is very important to invent a special mechanism or device that can melt the snow and the ice at least on the side walk. We want to describe the parts that are important in this invention. At each 100 feet there should be a...

How about getting cars manufactured with the air cooling system attached to a perforated steering wheel. As you turn the A/C on, cool air would blow out of the perforated holes. Would give you sweat free palms and a comfortable long drive in summer. I don't know if expensive cars have that, haven't seen it yet. But the idea in itself is inexpensive.
