A new device will be able to block out the high pitched whine of dentist drills may soon make a visit to the dentist more tolerable. The device will consist of a headset that will contain a microphone and a microchip, which will use adaptive filtering to block certain sound waves, even when shifting frequencies. The selective blocking of the sound waves will allow music from the dentist or a mobile device to reach the patient's ears, while eliminating the sound of the drill.
