Let us take a look at this vision. A larger door handle but moved to the centre of the door where a lock mechanism will push iron pins into three sides of the frame (the top and both sides). The pins are hidden inside the door and the lock could be formed to push each pin simutaneously(sp?)into guard plates inserted into the door frame.

Here's what I would love if someone would create... Christmas lights that can be left up all year without making you look like the problem neighbor. I'm thinking of a thin housing or tube that blends seamlessly with the gutters on your house. The housing would appear white when the lights were off, but would be transparent enough to see the lights through when they were turned on. Of course, the lights would have to be reliable so you don't lose strings here and there and have to climb...

People who stay in apartments/houses/anywhere with boring, depressing or even ugly views through their windows, will benefit from this. A tranquill forest scene or a sandy beach with the usual scenery, there are millions of suitable pictures. Place these pics: Size to extend past window's edges, in an advertising sign board type of frame. Attach this to the wall outside the window, so that the view from inside is now the picture you chose. What if you get bored with that picture? Well...

Every house has a fridge and a freezer and alot have air conditioners which are all basic heat exchangers (warm to cold or freezing) well there are now heat exchangers for heating homes (cold to warm) usually in-floor heating as well as hot water tanks, well I was thinking that a house should be built so that all forms of heat exchange are intergrated into one system

Window screens that filter the air would be a wonderful invention, especially for us allergy sufferers. It shouldn't be too hard and we could all benefit from cleaner air!

We could use adding more uniqueness and character to our homes and add that to our address. We could set up a real National Paid Directory of house addresses and there names with each name different from any other. We now name stars and boats so, why not our homes?! We could get really creative and it could reflect our families personalities or the house or anything you can imagine from any real or made up word or short sentence ever spoken from time immortal in any language you choose. It...

A periscope type of insert for your chimney that projects real time view of the sky, or chimney top vista, to a screen at the fire place opening. A sort of Rube Goldberg version of the window.

Robotics that can build 3d dimensional building structures in the oceans using nutrients and materials from the ocean. For example, if you could make floating algae bricks, or Coral Bricks and robotically place and combine them. The inspection, maintenance and repair should be fully robotic/automatic also.

Why not build a house that uses ground and snow as isolation? The house could have 3 sloped sides going to ground level and there if it is helpful could be roof covered air pockets between underground wall and ground. One side would be mostly glass. During winter the snow would help insulate most of the building (as there are no walls except the glass wall letting light and warmth in). Rainwater could be collected and used (by dehydration) in summer to cool the building. Air would need...

Having read about deaths occurring due to people extending ladders past the safe extension point I felt there had to be an answer. My idea is that the last rungs of the ladder have an extra extrusion on the back of the rung thus stopping the extended front part of the ladder from being located on the last rungs. This would stop people from overstretching the ladder thus avoiding a collapse due to undue stresses. An after market kit could also be sold as it would be quite a simple...
