The idea is to create a device to purify water with sun. The device will be able to purify three quarts of water per day when placed in direct sunlight. As the water evaporates, the contaminants separate from the water, resulting clean condensation that is stored for drinking.

The idea is to use a new technology to create plastic from sewage. The process will transform sewage into a biodegradable plastic by first removing the water and certain solids. A group of bacteria that address different parts of the sewage, such as sugars or fats, then will work together to produce a bioplastic polystyrene that will be similar to the top of a disposable coffee cup. The bioplastic resin will biodegrade within 6 to 12 months.

Why not invent the world's first permanent anti-fog coating able to stand up to repeated washings? The coating will be made permanent by the initial creation of a base of four layers of silicon molecules applied via an atmospheric plasma process. The layers will not only bond to each other, but also allow the anti-fog coating of polyvinyl alcohol to permanently bond to them, increasing the durability and hardness of the coating.

It was discovered that minced banana peels remove toxic metals from wastewater better than many of the leading chemical treatments. Banana peels are up to 20 percent more effective than other materials, and the same batch of peels can be used up to 11 times. The peels are an attractive option as a water purifier because they don't have to be modified to work, and, coupled with their low cost, could be used in places little funding for water treatment.

A new catalyst able to extract hydrogen from urine was discovered. I suppose it could have applications as fuel and as a way to clean municipal waters. An inexpensive form of electrolysis is to be used to break down urea, which contains four hydrogen atoms per molecule. Why not use the single celled algae to experiment with extracting lipids from it and using the lipids to make biodiesel. Because algae grows very quickly and does not require much land, it can provide a more continuous source of material at a lesser cost than conventional plants.

Why not use magma as a potential source of geothermal energy? It is actually able to power up to 30,000 homes. FYI, magma can produce dry steam at 750 degrees Fahrenheit, which can generate up to 25 megawatts of electricity. The usual geothermal well can produce 5 to 8 megawatts of electricity.

My idea is to use piezoelectricity to generate energy. Piezoelectricity is the charge that accumulates in response to applied mechanical strain, such as the vibrations of vehicles driving on roads. The piezoelectric sensors are inexpensive and can be installed during regular repaving. When utilized on a single lane, two mile stretch of road, the sensors could produce up to 44 megawatts of electricity each year, which is enough to power 30,800 homes for a year.

It was proved that the bacteria in a sheep's stomach that enable it to digest cellulose can also help clean TNT contaminated soil. The TNT breaks down completely, leaving no trace in the animal's feces. Why not plant grasses in TNT contaminated soil and set the sheep free to graze and clear the land at the same time. According to my estimations, a flock of 20 sheep could completely clear an acre of TNT residue in less than three years.

Why not create bomb sniffing plants? They will be able to screen the air and provide a warning system for dangerous substances such as explosives. Plant proteins will react to airborne pollutants or trace chemicals from explosives with visible responses, such as blanching white.
