A new kit will make pillboxes a thing of the past, replacing the plastic boxes with a system of near field technology (NFT) stickers that will help to ensure proper compliance and keep doctors informed of their patients' health.
The kit will include paper-thin, NFC "patches" that will adhere to the outside of pill bottles and packs. When the user's cell phone is brought near the sticker, a reporting portal will open, recording when the medicine was taken as well as giving the user an opportunity to report side effects, symptoms or mood. The system will help to increase the monitoring capabilities of doctors and allow the patient to let the physician know when they are feeling worse.
The stickers will adhere to almost any flexible substance, including paper, plastics and cardboard, and will not come in direct contact with the medication.
